AAN Self-Coaching Parenting App

Parenting with Fewer Emotional Fires

Your child’s big feelings happen inside you, too.

You're at a nice restaurant with your family. Your child suddenly begins crying loudly. People turn to look. The evening you imagined starts slipping away.

Hold that moment.

Before you think about how you should respond. Notice what may be happening inside you.

The pain of watching your child hurt? A sudden rush of anxiety that you won't be able to calm your child? Feeling that others may be judging you as a parent? Frustration? Anger? The urge to make it stop?

The Emotional Patterns Underneath Difficult Parenting Moments

Our children's emotions often stir up our own.

But this isn't a one-way street. How we react to their emotions can, in turn, intensify what they're feeling and how they respond.

Suddenly, everyone is caught in an emotional loop that makes things worse.

The difficulty isn't always that we don't know how we want to parent. It's that in difficult moments, our own emotional responses can make those choices for us before we have a chance to respond the way we want to.

That Difficult Moment Could Stop Triggering You

Many parenting tools focus on effective parenting practices or how to regulate ourselves after emotions have intensified.

Those parenting skills and knowledge are valuable and very important.

We've designed a different parenting app. An Advanced Applied Neuroscience (AAN) self-coaching parenting app to offer another layer of support. The app helps you practice new emotional response patterns, so that when a difficult moment arrives, you have more room to choose how you want to respond.

For two decades, we've used these same neuroscience principles in coaching to help people transform deeply learned emotional patterns.

With repeated practice, the brain can begin to carry new emotional learning into challenging real-life situations. This can create a pause between stimulus and response, giving you an opportunity to choose how to react before old patterns of self-judgment, doubt, embarrassment, anger, or anxiety make that choice for you.

Our new parenting app is designed to help parents practice exactly this. Not by replacing effective parenting practices or emotional regulation skills, but by helping change the underlying emotional patterns that can contribute to escalation.

So that instead of constantly putting out emotional fires, you and your family can begin to experience fewer unnecessary fires in the first place.

“You're going to reorient your mind in a way that fundamentally changes the way you operate in the world.”

What Transformation Can Feel Like

How Storytelling Makes This Possible

The app uses short, carefully designed stories that invite parents to practice making meaningful emotional choices. Through reflection and repeated practice, these stories create opportunities for emotional learning that goes beyond awareness or remembering what you should do.

The aim is to help new emotional responses become increasingly accessible in restaurants, in the car, at home, and in other challenging everyday parenting moments.

Using storytelling to practice isn't about teaching you how to parent. It's about helping rewire the deeply learned emotional patterns underlying your reactions.

This Work is Personal

I’m the parent of a neurodivergent child and a highly sensitive child. Both are grown now. My son is pursuing his PhD, and my daughter is one of the co-founders of the App.

With my hand on my heart, I am truly grateful to both of them for all they taught me about parenting, and navigating emotionally challenging situations in life.

My journey into neuroscience began with my desire to support my son. Nearly two decades later, after training and certifying hundreds of executive and life coaches in AAN techniques and personally coaching thousands of clients, that journey brought me back to parenting. This time with an app designed to bring AAN learning opportunities directly to parents.

The app is currently in its beta phase, with an official launch planned for 2027!
